Brazil is one of the BRIC countries and therefore naturally associated with high growth and vast opportunities for Danish companies. Within the next 10-15 years, Brazil is expected to become one of the world's largest economies, with a population of more than 200 million. Presently, the country is undergoing a positive development. Steady growth and political stability have earned Brazil a more investor-friendly reputation.
A significant part of recent years' growth is due to the fact that Brazil has enjoyed increased exports, including huge demand from, in particular, the other BRIC countries. Combined with high rising commodity prices, this has resulted in huge trade surpluses. In the last two to three years, imports have also picked up substantially - mainly of durables/consumer goods - but increasingly also of capital goods, which is a clear indication of the significant modernisation of the Brazilian industrial sectors.
Consequently, there is a substantial potential for Danish products in Brazil, but at the same time, Brazil constitutes a challenging market.
